Psalms 143:1-12 A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O LORD, Give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, And in Your righteousness. Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous. For the enemy has persecuted my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in darkness, Like those who have long been dead. Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is distressed. I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands. I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You like a thirsty land. Selah Answer me speedily, O LORD; My spirit fails! Do not hide Your face from me, Lest I be like those who go down into the pit. Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You. Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies; In You I take shelter. Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. Revive me, O LORD, for Your name's sake! For Your righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble. In Your mercy cut off my enemies, And destroy all those who afflict my soul; For I am Your servant.
Father God guide us as we travel through this life here on earth. Send you’re Spirit to us each day to watch over us and guide us down the right fork in the road that leads us to your Heavenly Kingdom. In Jesus name we pray, Amen!  The Psalm above fits perfectly with this week’s lesson.
Book of Hebrews 10:32-39 NKJV
Paul concludes this chapter by addressing the Hebrew believers to hang on to their faith in Jesus
Christ and what He did for them on the Cross. He tells them and us to endure in our faith till the end to receive the reward of Heaven for eternity. What a reward this will be and is worth whatever we must endure here on earth to obtain this reward. What type of things do we have to endure you ask? This lesson tells us so let’s get started.
32  But recall the former days in which, after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings:
But recall the former days; Former days is referring to the time period before a person is Born Again. When they lived a life of serving themselves and living for worldly things, thinking they are living a good life. Doing things like gossiping, using God’s name in vainly in everyday language as a way of expressing themselves, cursing and telling course jokes, stealing things like time at work (being nonproductive), praying to statues, practicing rituals of religion, etc. The list is quite extensive and is listed in the Bible in several places like; Leviticus 19:16; 2 Samuel 19:27; Psalm 15:3, Psalm 50:20, Psalm 101:5, Psalm 140:11; Proverbs 6:19, Proverbs 10:18; Proverbs 18:8, Proverbs 25:23, Proverbs 26:20; Jeremiah 6:28, Jeremiah 9:4; Romans 1:29-30; Ephesians 4:17-32; Colossians 3:5-11; 1 Timothy 3:11, 1 Timothy 5:13; 2 Titus 3:3; Titus 2:3, Titus 3:2; James 4:11; 1 Peter 2:1; 2 Peter 2:10-11; Jude 1:8-10; Revelation 12:10 Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,  20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,  21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
In which after you were illuminated; This phrase is referring to a person experiencing the change of having a new birth in Jesus Christ, when they are Born Again. It is an experience that a person will never forget. All of a sudden joy enters ones soul and you feel complete for the first time in your life and then you will experience peacefulness. A peacefulness that is comforting, warm, and fuzzy. It is a peacefulness of knowing that you have been accepted into God’s family; you are now one of His children; that one day Heaven will be your home. It is the Comforter that has taken up residence within your heart that produces these new feeling. John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: John 16:7  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.  This doesn’t mean everything will be rosy here on earth for the remainder of your life, but it is an inner peace that comes over you. In fact, the battle has just begun, because all of a sudden you now know the truth, there really is a Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and now you really want to please God. This angers the devil because he has lost you and now you will become a target of him to win you back, as the next phrase tells us. Up until the time a person is saved, old Satan doesn’t mess with you because you are living according to pleasing your flesh with the things of the world, which is presently his world.
You endured a great struggle with sufferings; What type of struggle will individuals have? The struggles will vary from person to person, like the things listed in the quoted verses above in Galatians. They will struggle with their friends because all of a sudden what was fun to do before won’t be fun to do now because they recognize it goes against God’s will. In fact they may not want to hang out with their friends because of the language they use and/or how they act toward other people. They will experience suffering due to persecution, because they want their friends and family to experience the new love they found for Jesus by being Born Again, but will be rejected instead. Jesus states in His Word that He will cause division in family and friends because of following Him. Luke 12:51-53 Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division.  52 For from now on five in one house will be divided: three against two, and two against three.  53 Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law." John 7:43 So there was a division among the people because of Him. Luke 1:8; John 9:16; John 10:19
It is truly amazing the people that say they know the Bible, but yet, still can’t recognize the change in someone they love, and want the same thing for themselves. No, they just go on living the way they have for decades and express they think they are right with God, not knowing for sure. They are just like the Israelites in believing in themselves for salvation.
33  partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated;
Let’s rephrase this verse; Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things.
Partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations; This phrase is in reference to public ridicule. There are times when people have such a zeal for Jesus after they are saved, they will go out in the public and displays crosses, signs, preach on corners, etc. and as a result of such actions they will be made fun of. Normally they will be ridiculed by self proclaiming Christians just like the Pharisees and Scribes of Jesus time, but in reality they are only practicing a religion. These people cannot see the forest for the trees.
And partly while you became companions of those who were so treated; People are ridiculed also because of who they may associate with after they are Born Again or because they are helping a new Born Again individual that is being persecuted because of his new found faith. As mentioned above, after a person is saved 9 out of 10 times they will be looking for Born Again Saints to fellowship with. Because of this change, they will be made fun of and called names like; holy rollers, Bible thumpers, Jesus freaks, thou holy ones, etc.
34  for you had compassion on me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven.
For you had compassion on me in my chains; Paul is making reference to the time he was in prison in Rome, as it is recorded in Acts Chapter 28. Paul was hated by the Jewish leaders because of his preaching and starting of many churches. He was considered an enemy/traitor of the Jewish leaders, therefore anyone helping Paul or ministering to his needs while he was in prison also suffered great tribulations from the leaders. The Jewish leaders didn’t just want to remove him from society, but to do away with him, in hopes that this Christianity movement would die.
This type of mentality also exists today. Many times a minister of a denomination may come to disagree with the doctrine of a religion because they have learned the truth and start preaching against the doctrine to reveal this truth. When this happens and the person is very persistent, the leaders not only seek to remove one of their own, but try to destroy that individual so the members of the congregation do not leave. These leaders just like the Pharisees truly believe they are doing God’s work and will go to extremes to save their beliefs, sometimes committing murder in Paul’s case.
And joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods; This is referring to the people that were ministering to Paul’s needs because they were not only ridiculed, but also suffered theft of their goods and destruction of their property. Even though they went through this type of persecution, they did it with a joyful spirit because of the peace and joy within their hearts.
Knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves in heaven; This is why the people ministering to Paul were joyful because they had the assurance of a Heavenly reward some day. They had experience the change, that being Born Again gives one. Their eyes had been open and their heart knew the truth. The possessions of the world no longer were important.
35  Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.
Therefore do not cast away your confidence; Simply stating to stand firm in faith in Jesus and what He did for you on the Cross at Cavalry. If one casts away this confidence then they will cast away the reward of Heaven.
Which has great reward; Faith in Jesus and the Cross is what provides a great reward, HEAVEN! Nothing on earth can satisfy the inner desire for joy and peace.
36  For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God; What this phrase is saying is that we need to have patience or endurance to continue doing the will of God. Paul is telling his listeners to keep doing what they have been doing and don’t get discouraged. Stay faithful to Jesus and put on the armor of God each day. Don’t get lazy and give the Devil the opportunity to tempt you.
You may receive the promise; Refers to our reward that we will receive one day. We are to love the Lord enough, and to have enough faith in Him, to know that He will provide for us, will take care of us, and will always do for us what we need. As a believer we are to trust in the Lord, understanding “that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). We must never forget that this Promise from God is a Promise He has made, and God keeps His Promises!
37  "FOR YET A LITTLE WHILE, AND HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME AND WILL NOT TARRY.
This verse comes from Habakkuk 2:3. What this verse is telling us is to be patient and wait for the Lord. The definition of tarry here means to linger in expectation; wait; stay in or at a place. So what Paul is telling his Hebrew listeners and us, is to stay faithful and wait on the Lord. Continue doing the will of God until the appointed time for the Rapture of the Church to come about. Whatever the reward God has for us will be stupendous compared to any type of earthly reward.
38  NOW THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; BUT IF ANYONE DRAWS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM."
This verse is from Habakkuk 2:4.
NOW THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; The just, who are the just? They are children of God, Born Again Saints. They are just because when they came to know the truth of the Gospel, admitted they were sinners in God’s eyes, ask for forgiveness for living the way they were, God forgave them and at that moment they were justified through the blood of Jesus. From that point on they live by faith in Jesus by fully understanding why Jesus died on the Cross for them.
BUT IF ANYONE DRAWS BACK; This phrase proclaims the fact that a believer can backslide in their faith by transferring their Faith from Christ and the Cross to other things.
MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM; This phrase tells us that God is grieved over the conduct of any person that would turn their back and place their faith in anything other than Jesus and His death and resurrection. After all God sent His Son, and His Son was will to come and die on the Cross for us, as the perfect sacrifice.
39  But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.
Paul is giving his Hebrew listener a pep talk with this statement, like a coach gives his team a pep talk at half time. He is telling us to remain faithful, endure the trials and temptations this life throws at us. Don’t be drawn back into their previous lifestyle which is a lifestyle of perdition, eternal Hell.
The Bible gives us a clear choice between two life directions. Because life often forks off in two directions, you must take the higher road, even though it looks more difficult and treacherous. That road gets steep and rocky in places. The climb takes a toll on your energy. It gets lonely. Not many on it, but more than you imagined, and some because of your example. It gets slippery; the devil blows ice on the narrow passages. Despite its dangers, the higher road is bound for the peak, and you'll make it; God has a lifeline around you. When you are tempted to falter in your faith or to turn back from following Christ, keep focused on what he has done for you and what he offers in the future Romans 8:12-25; Galatians 3:10-13. Then keep climbing.
Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth,
visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.
All things were created through Him and for Him.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, Most assuredly, I say to you,
unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Sinners Prayer; Pray this, and if you believe it with your heart, Jesus will save you!

“Lord Jesus I know I am a sinner.  I confess my sins to you; I am sorry for my sins; I repent (Meaning, desiring to turn from a sinful lifestyle.) of all my sins, and I am asking for your forgiveness of all of my sins.  I believe that only you can forgive sin.  I commit my life to you and ask you to come into my heart, direct, and take charge of my life.  I believe that you died to set me free from my sinful lifestyle and you rose from the dead to give me eternal life, and right now you are seated at the Right Hand of God Almighty. I believe you are the Son of God; the only Way, the only Truth, the only Life, and my Savior.”  I believe this and have faith you will make a new person out of me, by sending the Holy Spirit to dwell in my heart and lead me in a new life. In Jesus name I pray Amen.”  (John 3:16,17; Romans 3:23; 6:23; 5:8; 10:9-13; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 John 5:11-14; 1:6-10) (Sin: Rom. 1:22-32; Gal. 5:19-21; Eph. 5:3-7)

Psalms 142:1-7 A Contemplation Of David. A Prayer When He Was in the Cave. I cry out to the LORD with my voice; With my voice to the LORD I make my supplication. I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Then You knew my path. In the way in which I walk They have secretly set a snare for me. Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul. I cried out to You, O LORD: I said, "You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. Attend to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I. Bring my soul out of prison, That I may praise Your name; The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal bountifully with me."
In Jesus name we pray to you Father God. Bless and guide us as we travel through this life here on earth. Send your Spirit to us each day to watch over us and convict us of any wrong doing so we can amend our life and live a life modeled after yours. There is no other King but you King Jesus. Amen!
Book of Hebrews 10:26-31 NKJV
This chapter has been a very interesting and enlightening chapter. Again I will not finish it because this lesson focuses on consequences, consequences of willfully turning from God’s saving grace and there is a wealth of information in these 6 verses. I know there are those that believe you cannot fall from God’s Grace, but there are many verses in the Bible that supports that a person can willfully, (the key here is willfully) turn from Gods saving Grace. We have the parable of the seed sown in different soils and the pruning of the vine just to mention a couple. Many times a person claims to be saved, but there is no sign of lifestyle change, which the Bible teaches there will be, if a person is truly saved. This lesson also pertains to those that claim to be saved because they said a prayer without true repentance. They know the Gospel with their mind, but not with their heart. Ephesians 4:22-24  that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,  23  and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,  24  and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Romans 6:6; Colossians 3:9
26  For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
For if we sin willfully; This phrase is often misunderstood and people think if they sin willfully they cannot be forgiven. What this phrase is referring to is rejecting God’s gift of salvation by deliberately turning from the knowledge of truth, the Gospel. They ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit Who communicates to us by convicting us when we are tempted with sin and we go ahead and sin anyway. Paul is giving this warning to the Jewish Christians, and us, when we turn to religion for salvation after understanding Christ's atoning work and deliberately turn away from the Cross of Christ. Numbers 15:30-31 'But the person who does anything presumptuously, whether he is native-born or a stranger, that one brings reproach on the LORD, and he shall be cut off from among his people.  31 Because he has despised the word of the LORD, and has broken His commandment, that person shall be completely cut off; his guilt shall be upon him.' " Mark 3:28-30 "Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter;  29 but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation"30 because they said, "He has an unclean spirit." The point is there is no other acceptable sacrifice for sin than the death of Jesus on the cross. If someone deliberately rejects the sacrifice of Jesus after clearly understanding the Good News it teaches, then there is no way for that person to be saved, because God has not provided any other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them. Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
After we have received the knowledge of the truth; This phrase of this verse tells us that Paul is referring to saved individuals. We have to remember he is speaking to the Jewish believers that had given their heart to Jesus and were saved by Grace through Faith by the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. They had received the knowledge of truth by being Born Again.
There no longer remains a sacrifice for sins; So going back to the previous phrases of willfully sinning and knowledge of truth, and knowingly turn to something other than the Cross of Christ for salvation, like rituals of religion, then we are saying Jesus death and resurrection is not enough for us to place our faith in for salvation. By us placing our faith in the doctrine of a religion, we willfully sin and nullify what Jesus did on the Cross for us.
27  but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
But a certain fearful expectation of judgment; This judgment referred to here is the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15). This judgment is what nonbelievers and those that willfully turn away from salvation will face one day. As human being we have an eternal soul. This means that the soul and the spirit will never die. At the end of the Millennial Reign, there will be a second resurrection of sinners, when bodies made of eternal material will be given to every lost soul. With these eternal bodies, they will all be cast into the Lake of Fire
And fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries; “Fiery indignation” refers to God in punishing apostates. In other words, it angers God for individuals to reject Christ, especially considering the great price He has paid for their Salvation. Many people don’t believe that God would do this, but there are many examples in the Old and New Testament of people that did not live by His standards and were struck down. Just look at all the people that were struck down by the Israelites when they were claiming the land that God promised them. These people were evil in God’s eyes, but I’m sure according to man’s standards there were many kind and nice people, yet they were all killed.
28  Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
What Paul is trying to point out here is that judgment falls upon anyone that rejects God and His statutes. Even in the Old Testament when someone rejected the laws of the Old Covenant they were stoned to death. Deuteronomy 17:2-7 "If there is found among you, within any of your gates which the LORD your God gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of the LORD your God, in transgressing His covenant3 who has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded,  4 and it is told you, and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently. And if it is indeed true and certain that such an abomination has been committed in Israel,  5 then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and shall stone to death that man or woman with stones.  6 Whoever is deserving of death shall be put to death on the testimony of two or three witnesses; he shall not be put to death on the testimony of one witness.  7 The hands of the witnesses shall be the first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So you shall put away the evil from among you.
Some may claim that since we are living in the day of Grace that these admonitions don’t apply; but one must remember that judgment unto Grace is much more severe than it was under Law. Paul said: Acts 17:30-31 Truly, these times of ignorance (Old Testament times) God overlooked, but now (during this day of Grace) commands all men everywhere to repent,  31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead." And then the Apostle said, Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. While God is long-suffering and merciful, if men continue to reject His way, the ultimate result can be nothing but judgment.
29  Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
Let’s rephrase this verse to better understand it. “Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated His shed blood unholy and common, that saved us, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God's mercy to us.” Just think of it this way; you are a dedicated worker at your place of employment, always going the extra mile to get things done and done right, but when a monetary raise or promotion comes along you are passed by. How do you feel? This is what this verse is saying, someone that was saved but turns away from God’s Grace, will suffer greater punishment.
Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot; Being overlooked at work for a raise or promotion is nothing compared to God giving His only Son as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Does God have a right to be angry and send people to the Lake of Fire especially when they know the truth, but still reject the message of the Cross; when they still practice things of a religion that are not in God’s Holy Word the Bible.
Counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing; When a believer knows the truth and experiences God’s saving Grace through repentance, and then turns their faith to something other than Jesus sacrifice on the Cross for them, God has a right to be angry with them for rejecting His Son. Because of this they will suffer a fiery judgment, unless they repent and come back to faith in Jesus.
And insulted the Spirit of grace? Through this rejection of Jesus, the Holy Spirit is insulted, because it was by the power of the Holy Spirit that Jesus endured the suffering of the Cross and also rose from the dead. If one rejects Jesus, they are also saying the Holy Spirit does not exist!
30  For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord. And again, "THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE."
For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord; This phrase is often used in the context of God dealing with someone that has offended you. Let’s look at this from a little different angle. Let’s put the emphasis on, “I WILL REPAY”. Let’s stop and think about what we are studying in this lesson so far, and that is unfaithfulness of a nonbeliever and/or turning from God after knowing and experiencing the truth of God. This puts a whole new light on this well used phrase, when we think about us sinning and the judgment God will place on us some day. A wrongdoer cannot hope to go unpunished when our judgment is in the hands of the Lord. The one that the Christian Jews were repudiating, that being Jesus, will be their judge and our judge one day.
And again, "THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE; His people, is referring to the Christian Jews that placed their faith in Jesus, along with present day people that are Born Again. We always have to keep in mind what this Book of Hebrews is all about and what it is that Paul is trying to get the Hebrew people to understand, and that is to stay firm in the faith of what Jesus did on the Cross for them and not go back to their old ways of law and religious rituals. We also are just as guilty of practicing law and religious rituals.
Of course, every believing sinner who comes to Jesus wipes the slate clean of their sins. In other words, his sins were judged at the foot of the Cross and will never again be brought against him. It is the same with Believers who sin, and dutifully take that sin to the Lord. He has promised to forgive, cleanse, and forget, and that He does. 1 John 1:8-10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
We also have to remember that God is all knowing, meaning that He has the knowledge of all we say, think, and do. God doesn’t judge us by what He sees or hears us doing, but with the righteousness His holy standards and how our heart compares to His righteousness. Every single thing that man does, he will ultimately answer to God. This is a very solemn statement, but it happens to be true. Isaiah 11:1-4  There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.  2 The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.  3 His delight is in the fear of the LORD, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;  4 But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
God's power is awesome, and his punishment terrible. These words give us a glimpse into the holiness of God. He is sovereign; his power is unlimited; he will do as he promises. This judgment is for those who have once known the Lord, but have rejected Him and placed their faith is something other than the Cross of Christ. For them, falling into God's hands will be a dreadful experience. They will have no more excuses. They will discover that they were wrong, but it will be too late. For those who accept Christ's love and his salvation before they pass from this earth, they have nothing to fear. 1 John 4:15-19 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.  16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.  17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.  18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.  19 We love Him because He first loved us.

Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth,

All things were created through Him and for Him.

In Jesus name I pray Amen.”  (John 3:16,17; Romans 3:23; 6:23; 5:8; 10:9-13; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 John 5:11-14; 1:6-10) (Sin: Rom. 1:22-32; Gal. 5:19-21; Eph. 5:3-7)

Psalms 141:1-10 A psalm of David. O LORD, I am calling to You. Please hurry! Listen when I cry to You for help! Accept my prayer as incense offered to You, and my upraised hands as an evening offering. Take control of what I say, O LORD, and guard my lips. Don't let me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness. Don't let me share in the delicacies of those who do wrong. Let the godly strike me! It will be a kindness! If they correct me, it is soothing medicine. Don't let me refuse it. But I pray constantly against the wicked and their deeds. When their leaders are thrown down from a cliff, the wicked will listen to my words and find them true. Like rocks brought up by a plow, the bones of the wicked will lie scattered without burial. I look to You for help, O Sovereign LORD. You are my refuge; don't them kill me. Keep me from the traps they have set for me, from the snares of those who do wrong. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, but let me escape.
In Jesus name we pray to you Father God. Bless and guide us as we travel through this life here on earth. Send your Spirit to us each day to watch over us and convict us of any wrong doing so we can amend our life and live a life modeled after yours. There is no other King but you King Jesus. Amen!
Book of Hebrews 10:19-25 NKJV
Last week the lesson was somewhat of a review of previous chapters pertaining to the Old Covenant, this week the verses are pertaining to the New Covenant. The New Covenant is what we live by which is by faith in Jesus, in what He did for us on the Cross. Faith is a hard thing to understand for some, because of their upbringing. Many people think they have their faith in Jesus, but in reality it is in the doctrine of a religion. A simple child like faith is hard for adults because we think we have to do something in order to receive something in return like salvation. A simple test to see where ones faith lies, is this. What do you have to do to go to Heaven? If your answer is some of these things like; baptism, confession, confirmation, communion, last rites, etc., then your faith is in a religion for salvation. This is also referred to a works, works of self. The one and only correct answer is faith in Jesus and understanding why Jesus had to come to earth in human form and die for us as the perfect sacrifice and be resurrected from the dead. Jesus had to do this for us because of the inherited sin nature each of us have and there is nothing we can do on our own to cover or remove it. Jesus removed it for us and that is what we must place our faith in and believe, for salvation.
19  Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
This verse could also be phrased like this; “Dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven's Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus”. It is because of the life giving blood that Jesus shed for us we can go directly to Jesus for all that we need.
The Most Holy Place in the Temple was sealed from view by a curtain. Only the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies, and he did so only once a year on the Day of Atonement when he offered the sacrifice for the nation of Israel's sins. Jesus' death removed the curtain, and all believers may walk into God's presence at any time now. Luke 23:45 Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.
20  by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,
This verse could also be stated like this; By His death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place.
By a new and living way; This refers to the New Covenant that Jesus started with His death. The living way pertains to a life of holiness here on earth and also for eternity in Heaven. Without this living way, death is the result and eternity is then in Hell.
Which He consecrated for us; This refers to Jesus and that He opened up a new way that was perfect for us to come to the Cross through faith. The shedding of Jesus perfect blood consecrated the path for man’s salvation.
Through the veil; The veil was ripped from top to bottom signifying it was laid open for whosoever to go through to the Throne of God.
That is, His flesh; This is referring to Jesus and His crucified flesh that He sacrificed for us. When the veil of the temple was ripped it revealed this: Jesus had now provided the actual entrance for the believing sinner into the Presence of God; the symbolic sacrifices were to be discontinued, for the reality of all that the Old Covenant pointed to, had come into being. Even though all the things that Jesus did were of vast significance, like all the miracles, it was not until He died on the Cross, that this new way was opened for all to come to Him.
21  and having a High Priest over the house of God,
And having a High Priest; This phrase in the Greek actually states this, “a Priest, a great One.” Not only is Jesus our High Priest, but He is a great One, and His greatness is shown by the fact that He is the Priest over the actual House of God. The One Who by His Death on the Cross saves all those who belong to the House of God from all nations (believers).
Over the house of God; Even though Jesus took on the role of a humble and faithful servant to His Father while He was here on earth, His death and resurrection of a perfect life made Him the head of the church. He became our High Priest because He defeated the Devil. Colossians 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
22  let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith; How is it possible for us to go right into the presence of God? It is possible through faith in Jesus because of the assurance of the Word of God and knowing we are forgiven when we are Born Again. We can know that we have "sincere hearts" if we evaluate our thoughts and motives according to his Word. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience; We as Christians can approach God boldly, free from a "guilty conscience" and in full assurance of forgiveness because of the work of Jesus Christ. We can go to God without doubting, knowing that he will hear and answer us. Under the new covenant, our hearts and consciences are cleansed completely, not partially or temporarily. Hebrews 9:13-14 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh,  14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Our clean consciences allow us to enter God's presence with boldness.
And our bodies washed with pure water; The figure of speech of our bodies having been "washed with pure water" actually signifies an inward cleansing. Just like baptism is an outward sign that represents the purification that the Holy Spirit does inside us, so this washing speaks of an internal cleansing from sin. Once cleansed, we can approach God knowing we are worthy to approach Him.
23  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope; What this phrase is telling us is that we are to remain faithful to the confession that we made at the time of our redemption and the new hope that we have found in Christ through the Born Again experience. Through this Born Again conversion I was baptized into the Death of Jesus, buried with Him, and raised with Him in Newness of Life. This means that I literally died to sin and the old life, and that lifestyle no longer has a hold on me. Romans 6:1-7 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?  2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?  3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?  4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,  6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.  7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. I can now consider myself to be dead to sin but alive to God through Jesus Christ my Lord. Romans 6:11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Without wavering; What this is saying, is this new found faith in the Cross, we are to hold on tight to what it proclaims for all that are Born Again. Cling tight to the Cross like the roots of a tree and do not waver. The answer to all things is Jesus Christ for eternal rest. Paul is also saying to his Jewish listeners and us that once we find the truth and accept it don’t drift back to the ways of the Old Covenant or religion. For current times if one is practicing doctrine of a religion and believing the religion will get them to Heaven, then don’t go back to former beliefs, once the truth is found.
For He who promised is faithful; God has set forth the New Covenant and the way to Heaven through Jesus, by faith. God is faithful and will hold true to His Word. John 3:15-18 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.  16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.  18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
24  And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
And let us consider one another; This phrase is referring to the previous verse pertaining to a brothers or sisters new found faith in Jesus. We are to help one another to stay on the lighted path of righteousness. If we see a Born Again Christian failing in walking in the foot prints of Jesus, we are to point that out to them. A true believer will welcome you correcting them, whereas a person professing to be a Christian, but isn’t will take offense to being corrected, normally. Fellowship with other believers is to edify us in the faith. Many times a gathering of people of a church is all about worldly things, when Christ should be the center of the gathering. Have you experience these types of gatherings?
In order to stir up love; This fellowship should invigorate us; spark a desire to live a holy life; encourage us to witness to non-believer. In other words stir up love in our heart for others eternal life.
And good works; As stated many times before, good works comes from the heart when we are transformed from a sinner to a child of God. We want to share the Good News of the Gospel, because just like Jesus, we don’t want to see others going to Hell for eternity. Proper Faith in the Cross will always produce good works, but good works will never produce proper Faith in the Cross. James 2:17-18 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.  18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
25  not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some; Whenever Christians gather together in like faith, there is a strength and an encouragement which comes from such an assembly. We obtain something from the Lord by going to Church and mixing with other Believers that we cannot obtain anywhere else. Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." 1 Corinthians 5:4  In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But exhorting one another; We are to encourage or be an encouragement to fellow brothers and sisters in the faith, to remain faithful.
And so much the more as you see the Day approaching; With each passing day we are getting closer to the coming of the Lord. With current worldly events and the things taking place here in the US it has to raise a question as to how close we are to the return of Jesus. These worldly activities should heighten our desire to spread the Gospel to the lost, fore we know not the hour.
I’m going to stop here because the rest of the chapter delves into sin and the result of willful sin. It talks about punishment and falling into the righteous hand of God. What a fearful thing this is when one knows the Word of God and refuses to believe it and live according to what it says.

Psalms 140:1-13 For the choir director: A psalm of David. O LORD, rescue me from evil people. Protect me from those who are violent, those who plot evil in their hearts and stir up trouble all day long. Their tongues sting like a snake; the venom of a viper drips from their lips. Interlude O LORD, keep me out of the hands of the wicked. Protect me from those who are violent, for they are plotting against me. The proud have set a trap to catch me; they have stretched out a net; they have placed traps all along the way. Interlude I said to the LORD, "You are my God!" Listen, O LORD, to my cries for mercy! O Sovereign LORD, the strong One who rescued me, You protected me on the day of battle. LORD, do not let evil people have their way. Do not let their evil schemes succeed, or they will become proud. Interlude Let my enemies be destroyed by the very evil they have planned for me. Let burning coals fall down on their heads. Let them be thrown into the fire or into watery pits from which they can't escape. Don't let liars prosper here in our land. Cause great disasters to fall on the violent. But I know the LORD will help those they persecute; He will give justice to the poor. Surely righteous people are praising Your name; the godly will live in Your presence.
In Jesus name we pray to you Father God and we thank you for this day. Bless and guide us through it in all that we do. Catch us when we stumble and let us see your greatness in all that surrounds us. There is no other King but you King Jesus. Amen!
Book of Hebrews 10:1-18 NKJV
Chapter 10 starts out with what you would call a review of all the previous chapters of Hebrews. Verses 1-18 speak of the Old Covenant and its insufficiencies. It tells us that God had no pleasure in all of the burnt offerings, or the animal sacrifices, and that Jesus came to earth to do Gods’ will. I for one do not remember God saying these things but they are stated in His Word. The Bible is an amazing book because almost every time you pick it up it speaks to you in a different way depending on what is going on in your life. This is why the Bible is a living document and ministers to a person’s spirit.
Since most of these verses have been covered in detail in previous lessons I will only give a brief synopsis of each.
1  For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.
For the law; The law meaning the Law of Moses.
Having a shadow of the good things to come; The good things to come of course was Jesus, the Old Covenant was an outline of the ultimate sacrifice Jesus did for us.
And not the very image of the things; The Old Covenant was an image of what was to come, but not a very clear image of what was to come in the future. It was a picture but a fuzzy picture therefore the reason why the Jews of Jesus time could not recognize and accept Jesus as the Messiah.
Can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect; The animal sacrifices could never take away sin therefore they had to be repeated numerous times.
2  For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins.
For then would they not have ceased to be offered?; Paul asks this question based on the previous verse. If the animal sacrifices would have taken away sin then only one animal would have to be sacrificed, not one every year. But with it being an imperfect blood they had to be repeated.
For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins; Simply states that sins committed were always on the minds of the people, but Jesus blood gives one the assurance that our sins are forgiven and forgotten when confession is made with and open mouth to Him we are sorry, repent, and we accept Him as our Saviour.
3  But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year.
But in those sacrifices; This refers to the yearly animal sacrifices for sin.
There is a reminder of sins every year; Every year the High Priest had to take blood into the Holy of Holies to offer for the sins of the people, therefore indicating a sacrifice that did not remove sin.
4  For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
Again, stated the fact that animal blood cannot take away sin, only the blood of Jesus on the Cross.
5  Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "SACRIFICE AND OFFERING YOU DID NOT DESIRE, BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME.
Therefore, when He came into the world; “He” refers to Jesus and He came into the world to save the lost.
He said: "SACRIFICE AND OFFERING YOU DID NOT DESIRE; This statement is taken from Psalm 40:6 by Paul. Meaning God did not desire an animal sacrifice, but faith in Him to provide all the Israelites needed.
BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME; This is referring to Jesus in human form. A perfect body, to be a perfect sacrifice, for the redemption of mankind.
6  IN BURNT OFFERINGS AND SACRIFICES FOR SIN YOU HAD NO PLEASURE.
This verse is also taken from Psalm 40:6. God does not take pleasure in sacrifices, did you know that? This quotation is not cited in any other New Testament verses, but it is the teaching of the Old Testament that God desires obedience and a right heart, not vain compliance with the sacrificial system. Paul applies to Christ the words of the psalmist in Psalm 40:6. Christ came to offer his body on the cross for us as a sacrifice that is completely acceptable to God. God's way for us to please him is not by keeping laws, but to come to him in faith through repentance and asking for forgiveness, and then following him in loving obedience.
The costly sacrifice of an animal's life showed the sinner the seriousness of his or her own sin before God. The death of the animal due to their sin showed them the penalty of sin, being death, spiritual death.
Psalms 40:6 Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.
7  THEN I SAID, 'BEHOLD, I HAVE COME— IN THE VOLUME OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME— TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD.' "
THEN I SAID, 'BEHOLD, I HAVE COME— IN THE VOLUME OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME; This phrase is referring to Jesus that He came just as the scripture of old stated He would. The Old Testament points exclusively to Christ and His coming.
TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD; Jesus being the Son of God was bound to do His Fathers will and that He did in all aspects of His life right down to His death on the Cross. Psalms 40:7-8 Then I said, "Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me.  8 I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart."
8  Previously saying, "SACRIFICE AND OFFERING, BURNT OFFERINGS, AND OFFERINGS FOR SIN YOU DID NOT DESIRE, NOR HAD PLEASURE IN THEM" (which are offered according to the law),
Previously saying, "SACRIFICE AND OFFERING, BURNT OFFERINGS, AND OFFERINGS FOR SIN; All of these things were instituted by God just like the Ten Commandments, but the ultimate goal was for the Jewish people to realize how God hated sin and for them to turn from their wicked ways and start living by faith in God.
YOU DID NOT DESIRE; NOR HAD PLEASURE IN THEM (which are offered according to the law); Refers to the fact that all these Offerings were included in the Mosaic Law and were meant to point to Christ.
9  then He said, "BEHOLD, I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD." He takes away the first that He may establish the second.
Then He said, "BEHOLD, I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD”; Paul repeats himself here, and as stated previously this is Jesus speaking coming to earth to do the Fathers will.
He takes away the first that He may establish the second; Jesus did do this with His death on the Cross. He brought an end to the old Mosaic Law system, the Old Covenant, and established the New Covenant where He writes His commands and laws on our hearts and in our minds when we accept Him as our Saviour. Through Christ we can fulfill the moral law as we let him live in us.
10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
By that will; The will of God.
We have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all; This proclaims unmistakably that the only way a believer can live a triumphant life, now and eternally, is by placing their Faith in the Cross of Christ.
11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,
These 2 verses state very plainly that the priests ministered constantly in offering sacrifices. Their work was never done and they were on their feet daily, whereas Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, and His work is finished once and for all.
The ministering of the priests is works to gain salvation through rituals, which was the way of the Old Covenant, but the New Covenant requires faith in Jesus and what He did on the Cross for us.
13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.
This verse is referring to the timeframe where Jesus sat down at His Father’s right hand until He comes again. He will make His enemies His footstool at some point in time. His enemies being Satan and all the fallen Angels, demon spirits, and all who follow Satan by sinning.
14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
A believer is made perfect by the blood of Jesus, yet they are made holy through sanctification. The sanctification process is made possible by the Holy Spirit residing within a Born Again Saint. Through his death and resurrection, Christ, once for all, made His believers perfect in God's sight. He is also making them holy (progressively cleansing and set them apart from the world) in their daily pilgrimage here on earth. We should not be surprised, ashamed, or shocked that we still need to grow out of that inherited sin nature. We can encourage this growth process by deliberately applying Scripture to all areas of our life, by accepting the discipline and guidance Christ provides, and by giving him control of our life.
15 But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,
After a person is Born Again the Holy Spirit is the one that moves into our heart and starts dealing with us in the sanctification process. It is easy to get caught up with worldly things of the flesh. We have to beware of those actions that we should or shouldn't do and listen to the Holy Spirit within our heart. Living a life without an inward change leads to a shallow or empty spiritual walk like seeds that fall on stony ground Matthew 13:3-9. What matters to God is that we be completely changed from the inside out. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
16 "THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR HEARTS, AND IN THEIR MINDS I WILL WRITE THEM,"
Paul quotes Jeremiah once again here to his Hebrew listeners and also to us. Jeremiah 31:33-34 With the New Covenant, God’s laws are placed in our heart and written in our mind when we are Born Again. This is the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit Who takes up His permanent residence in a believer. This is all made possible by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross.
17 then He adds, "THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."
Jesus is the only sacrifice that takes away sin, and our sins are forgotten forever. Paul concludes his argument with this powerful statement that God will never again remember our sins. Christ forgives completely, so there is no need to confess our past sins repeatedly. As believers, we can be confident that the sins we confess and renounce are forgiven and forgotten.
The forgiveness of a person’s sins is referred to as being justified in God’s eyes, which means that the sinner exhibited Faith in Jesus and what He did at the Cross, therefore being justified. Justification means that God looks at such a person as if they have never sinned, and will remember their sins no more. This is, “Justification by Faith”.
18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
With Jesus offering Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin, there is no need of any other sacrifices. Jesus paid it all with His life giving blood for eternity.
Aren’t you glad we don’t have to do all the rituals like the Old Covenant required? All we have to do is place our faith in Jesus, his death and resurrection for eternal life.
