Psalms 89:8-24 O LORD God of hosts, Who is mighty like You, O LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You. You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them. You have broken Rahab in pieces, as one who is slain; You have scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm. The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; The world and all its fullness, You have founded them. The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Your name. You have a mighty arm; Strong is Your hand, and high is Your right hand. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face. Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance. In Your name they rejoice all day long, And in Your righteousness they are exalted. For You are the glory of their strength, And in Your favor our horn is exalted. For our shield belongs to the LORD, And our king to the Holy One of Israel. Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, And said: "I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people. I have found My servant David; With My holy oil I have anointed him, With whom My hand shall be established; Also My arm shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not outwit him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him. I will beat down his foes before his face, And plague those who hate him. "But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him, And in My name his horn shall be exalted.
Father God, we give you all the Glory, Thanks, Praise, and Honor. I ask that you bless all of those that read these messages, and to bless their loved ones. Open our hearts to comprehend your words, our ears to hear your words, and our minds to be changed from any false beliefs, to the truth that lies in your words. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!
Revelation 1:7- 8 NKJV
Last week we covered the introduction and greetings of this great book and this lesson will contain the theme of how Jesus is coming, who will see Him, who will fear Him, why they will fear Him, and His Almighty Wisdom, Power, and Judgment.
7    Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
Behold, He is coming with clouds; When Jesus comes at the end of the Great Tribulation He is coming with clouds and not on a cloud. Many think He’s coming in a cloud, on a cloud, or through the clouds. The clouds spoken of here, is all of His Saints and it will be a cloud of Saints. That is what the word “with” is pertaining to.
These Saints, as explained in previous lessons are Born Again Saints, true believers that have accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour, and have ask Him to come into their hearts to rule and reign their lives here on earth so they will have eternal life in Heaven with Jesus. This massive cloud of Saints will be from the past, present, and our future. Those that will go up to Heaven by means of the Rapture will also be included in this cloud of Saints. These Saints spoken of here are not man proclaimed saints. We have religions that proclaim an individual to be a saint due to their acts of good deeds and kindness in society and around the world. Now don’t get me wrong here, I’m not judging these man proclaimed saints, because it is very possible some of these individuals have lived by faith and not works, and if that is the case then they are Saints in God’s eyes. God sees what is in the person’s heart we can’t. I’m just merely stating that mankind tends to believe what man says and not what God says. Why, maybe due to the fact that they haven’t read or understand what God’s Word says. Here are some verses that refer to the Second Coming of Jesus; Acts 1:9-12 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.  10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,  11 who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven." 12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey. Jude 1:14-16 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints,  15  to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."  16 These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. I Cor. 4:5; II Thess. 1:10; Heb. 10:37; Rev. 1:7; 3:11; 22:20.
Every eye will see Him; This phrase doesn’t mean that every eye on the face of the earth will see Jesus when He returns because Jesus is going to return at the same place that He ascended into Heaven, which was at the Mount of Olives. See the verse above Acts 1:12. The two men adorned in white states this to the Apostles, and also for us to know. Where Jesus is going to return is also stated in Zechariah 14:1-7 Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, And your spoil will be divided in your midst.  2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.  3 Then the LORD will go forth And fight against those nations, As He fights in the day of battle.  4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south.  5 Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee As you fled from the earthquake In the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the LORD my God will come, And all the saints with You.  6 It shall come to pass in that day That there will be no light; The lights will diminish.  7 It shall be one day Which is known to the LORD Neither day nor night. But at evening time it shall happen That it will be light. Did you notice that Jesus is going to divide the Mount of Olives for His people to escape just like God parted the Red Sea? Awesome! Did you also notice that the sun or moon will be greatly diminished? All this will take place in the evening and that Jesus will be the light that is needed, fore He is the Light of the world and the light of those with eternal life? Genesis 1:16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. Revelation 21:23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
Does that mean that those around the world won’t observe this event? No, I believe with modern technology meaning TV, those around the world that are left behind, meaning believers that proclaim with their lips and not with their hearts will view this earth-shattering event. Matthew 15:8-9 'THESE PEOPLE DRAW NEAR TO ME WITH THEIR MOUTH, AND HONOR ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR FROM ME.  9  AND IN VAIN THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE COMMANDMENTS OF MEN.' "
Even they who pierced Him; Do you know who this phrase is referring to? Mainly of course, the Jewish people that rejected Jesus as their Messiah, but also the Gentiles that reject Jesus as the Saviour. Anyone that had not accepted Jesus as their Saviour has also had a part in putting nails through His hands and feet and piercing His side. There were Jew and Gentile alike at Jesus trial and they all cried out to crucify Him because they rejected Him. Some denominations read the Passion of Jesus Christ on Palm Sunday and some have plays portraying this event. With the reading of the Passion it was always the people’s part in the church to cry out, “crucify Him”. As a young adult this really bothered me because Jesus was and is my Saviour and I believed in Him and what He did for me, therefore I just wouldn’t say it. If the church you go to does this, does it bother you?
Can you imagine how those that will be left behind from the Rapture will feel, when they see Jesus coming on a white horse with His cloud of Saints? The Jewish people will suddenly realize what they have done and will cry out loud in mourning, they will be grief stricken. This is all prophesized in Zechariah 12:10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. They not only rejected Jesus, but they accepted Cesar as their king. John 19:15 But they cried out, "Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar!"
Stop and take a few moments and try to imagine how Jesus must have felt. His own people not wanting anything to do with Him, in fact they want Him killed. Is it a mystery to you as to why Israel couldn’t see who Jesus really was? Ponder this thought for a while. Jesus wasn’t their Messiah because their view of a saviour was someone that was going to deliver them from the Roman empire, and the Jewish nation would rule and not be ruled by the Romans. They were looking for a King not a Saviour. They wanted something to satisfy their flesh and not their spirit. They were looking for something they could see, touch, feel, and experience. Not something they could not see or touch like eternal life. This is the down fall of mankind. As human beings we tend to believe in tangible things and not intangible things. This still holds true for today and the reason why so many don’t believe.
So not only will the Jewish people mourn at the Second Coming of Jesus, but anyone living in sin, and has a knowledge of the Gospel will be in mourning, because they too have denied Jesus as the Saviour of the world. When one rejects God or anything of God, it comes down to a total rejection of God. If you claim to be a Christian, do you accept God’s Plan of Salvation and Sanctification? If one does not accept the finished work of the Cross and goes in another direction, then they become blind, a veil is placed over them causing a spiritual blindness. Ephesians 4:17-18 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,  18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.
All the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him; Mourn means to grieve over, wail, cry out, or moan. All of Israel tribes around the world will mourn because they will all of sudden realize what they have done. Every Gentile will mourn because they will come to the realization of living a life of pleasing themselves. This event will bring forth the realization of the destruction of the inherited sin nature that inflicts every human heart.
This fear of Jesus second coming, and mourning when He does come is proof that deep down in one’s spirit, not soul, that mankind believes in eternal punishment. They know they are guilty and judgment will be placed upon them. If they were innocent, then they would have nothing to fear. Some believe God is so loving and kind that all who die go to Heaven. If this were the case then why do so many people fear death? If one fears death, where is their faith?
To put this in perspective, let’s say you are in a vehicle accident that was your fault. While texting on your phone you cross the line into oncoming traffic, luckily the person in the other vehicle was ok and you required first aid by the paramedics. When the paramedics arrived on the scene and came toward you, were you fearful of them? No, because you knew the paramedics would not place judgment on you but just fix you up and help you to feel better. This for the most part is what the modern day church does, makes one feel good. Now the State Trooper approaches you, what is going through your mind now, as he comes towards you. Some fear sets in because you know you were in the wrong and you will have to pay the consequences. This is what will happen to those when they see Jesus coming with a cloud. Before they see Him they will think they are doing and living right, but as soon as they see Him a terrifying fear will set in from deep within, because they will realize they will have to give an account for their lives.
Jesus is coming to judge, to see who will be worthy to enter into the Kingdom Age where Jesus will rule from Jerusalem. He will judge the nations and how they treated Israel. He will fulfill the Abrahamic Covenant. Genesis 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." This judgment is talked about, and we studied it in Matthew 25:31-34 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.  32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.  33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.  34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
Even so, Amen; This is a double expression of so be it, assuredly, certainly. The idea which John is conveying is that the coming of the Lord Jesus, and the consequences which he says will follow, are certain to happen.
8   "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."
Jesus is proclaiming that he is the first and the last and one and only that ever was, is, and will be. He is coming in all of His splendor and might. He is almighty and over all of creation, and capable of all that is stated in this final book of the Bible. He has his hand on all things, is all knowing, all present, and all powerful.
Knowing this, all we have to do is place our faith in Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to work within us to sanctify us. With a proper relationship and faith in Jesus we will be taken care of as sons and daughters. 2 Corinthians 6:18 "I WILL BE A FATHER TO YOU, AND YOU SHALL BE MY SONS AND DAUGHTERS, SAYS THE LORD ALMIGHTY."

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,
for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…...
Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you,
unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Psalms 89:1-7 A Contemplation of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations. For I have said, "Mercy shall be built up forever; Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens." "I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn to My servant David: 'Your seed I will establish forever, And build up your throne to all generations." And the heavens will praise Your wonders, O LORD; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the saints. For who in the heavens can be compared to the LORD? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the LORD? God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, And to be held in reverence by all those around Him. Father God, we give you thanks and praise for all you do for us. I ask that you bless those that read these messages and guide them home. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
Revelation 1:1-6 NKJV
This is the last book of the Bible and what is contained in this book is what’s to come in the future. It is a description of events that John the Apostle recorded while he was on the island of Patmos. He was exiled there because he was a follower of Jesus Christ and preached the Gospel of the New Covenant. All the other Apostles were killed due to this Gospel, because the Jewish and Gentile people were blinded as to who Jesus was and what He did for all on the Cross. They were blinded because of their human carnality (sin nature) and wouldn’t accept anything other than their old customs, rituals, doctrine, religion, etc. What do you believe in for your eternal life after passing from this earth? Faith in Religion, or faith in Jesus?
They tried to kill John also by placing him in a vat of boiling oil, but he was protected by Jesus. Seeing they couldn’t kill him they exiled him to the island of Patmos. I feel Jesus did this so that John could record this book of the Bible for all to know of the events of the future. This is yet to come and the way things are lining up in this world, I truly believe we are starting to see end time events happening around the world. Jesus speaks of these things in Matthew Chapters 24 & 25. If you remember I did a study on these chapters starting 7-20-2011. If you want to refresh what these two chapters are all about that Jesus revealed to the Apostles, you can go to the Blog where I post all of these. http://jesus-christ-spiritual-food.blogspot.com/ So without any further a due, let’s get started!
1  The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John,
The Revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave Him; This is a title of the whole book, and the substance within this book is a declaration of a revelation from Jesus Christ. Many think this revelation was of John, which it isn’t, it is of Jesus, and being revealed to John so that he can record what is to come for all to know, and be ready for. The word “Revelation” is from the word Apokalupsis, and we have derived our word “Apocalypse” - meaning to uncover, disclose, enlighten, manifestation, be revealed. It would apply to anything being covered up or hidden from view by a veil or darkness, or in an ark or chest, and then made visible by removing the covering. Revelation then, is the act of disclosing or revealing what is hidden, by removing the veil of darkness or ignorance. Many people haven’t and don’t want to read this book of the Bible and try to understand it because it scares them. This is because of their relationship with Jesus. A person of this nature does not have a heart relationship with Jesus and fears the events of what’s to come. Why, because their faith is in themselves for survival and not in Jesus. A Born Again Saint looks forward to the Second Coming of Jesus to rid this world of Satan, his servants, demons, and all the corruptness we are living in. They long for the restoration of the Garden of Eden where Jesus will rule and reign in all of his righteousness and splendor. The sad part of leaving this earth is the loved ones left behind that don’t have the heart relationship with our Saviour.
To show His servants—things which must shortly take place; This revelation of coming events was given to Jesus to enlighten His servants. You see God is the one that conducts all things. Even though the Trinity is one, there are three persons. God being the head of the Trinity He directs all things. He gave this revelation to Jesus, His son to share. When Jesus walked this earth in human form He knew there would be an end, but at that time, He didn’t know when. He states this in Matthew and Mark. Matthew 24:36 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. It is the same with end time events, they were revealed to Jesus to share with us through the Apostle John. Jesus gets His direction from God the Father and He even states this in John 5:19-20  Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.  20  For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
Some people struggle with the Trinity and trying to understand it. I view it like a corporate structure, CEO, President, and Vice-President. They are all different people, each having a specific function, all think alike and have a common goal, but the CEO is the one directing all things within the corporation.
What about “servant” in this verse, do you know who this is referring to? It is referring to all Born Again Saints, past, present, and future. Why do we need to know about these events if we are to be Raptured away? So that we can witness to the unbelievers in hopes of them giving their heart to Jesus, also so that we will know what is starting to happen and know the end is getting near and not to fear what is happening, because it is God’s will and being a believer we can rest in Jesus Christ.
These events spoken of started with the Church Age which began on the day of Pentecost and will conclude with the Perfect Age. The Church Age pertains to Chapters 2 & 3 which has now lasted around 2,000 years and how much longer, we do not know. What we do know is this, a thousand years is like one day to God. 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. From creation to Jesus death it was a +4,000 years, and since Jesus death it has been a +2,000 years. That adds up to 6,000 some years, and where we are in that 6,000 figure we do not know, but we are living in day 6. The beginning of 7,000 is day seven, the Sabbath, a day of rest in our Lord Jesus Christ presence. The Kingdom age is 1,000 years. Therefore I feel the Rapture is close. Having an understanding of Bible Prophecy you can see the pieces of the puzzle come together.
Chapters 4 & 5 pertain to the Rapture. Commencing right after the Rapture of the Church the Great Tribulation begins and will last 7 years. Chapters 6 through 18 describe these events and takes up the majority of the book. Chapter 19 portrays the Second Coming, with Chapter 20 portraying the beginning of the Kingdom Age, 1,000 years. The last 2 Chapters, 20 & 22 speaks of the Perfect Age where Jesus will rule and reign here on earth without end.
And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John; The events contained in this book, was sent to John by an angel through signs and symbols. “An angel was employed to cause these scenic representations to pass before the mind of the apostle. The communication was not made directly to him, but was through the means of a heavenly messenger employed for this purpose. There is frequent allusion in the Scriptures to the fact that angels have been employed as agents in making known the divine will, or in the revelations which have been made to people.” (Barnes) Revelation 22:6 Then he said to me, "These words are faithful and true." And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place. Acts 7:53 who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it." Acts 7:38 "This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us, As we travel through this book you will see that an Angel is very involved with this revelation being revealed to John.
2  who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw.
John is merely stating that he witnessed what he recorded in this final book of the Bible. He witnessed it by the visions and symbols revealed to him by the angel and by Jesus Christ.
3  Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.
This verse is better stated as; “God blesses the one who reads the words of this prophecy to the church, and He blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time is near.” (NLT) In other words John encourages all to read and listen to what is in this book and take it to heart. When John says that "the time is near," he is urging his readers to be ready at all times for the last judgment and the establishment of God's Kingdom. We do not know when these events will occur, but we must always be prepared. They will happen quickly, and there will be no second chance to change sides.
4  John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne,
John, to the seven churches which are in Asia; John is addressing the churches of Asia Minor with a message to them, from Jesus. These messages are contained in Chapters 2 & 3. These seven churches are; Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. These messages portray what Jesus thinks of these churches. These churches are of the past, present, and future.
Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come; “Grace to you, and peace from Him,” is a common form of greeting when addressing a Church. Grace and peace is referring to the sanctifying grace and peace from Jesus which is only possible through Him.
Who is, was, and to come clearly states Jesus always was, He is alive today, and will be alive forever.
and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne; What is the “seven Spirits”? It is often times referred to as the "sevenfold Spirit" which is another name for the Holy Spirit. The number seven is used throughout Revelation to symbolize completeness and perfection. The seven spirits are found in Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. The sevenfold characteristic of the Holy Spirit speaks of totality, completion, and perfection.
The Holy Spirit is before the throne and not on it. This signifies that the works of the Holy Spirit is primarily on earth. All that God does for mankind is done though the Person of the Holy Spirit.
5  and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth; John is pointing out that this message he has for the churches is from Jesus. Jesus is the faithful witness, or example of perfect obedience of earthly life that we are to model our life after. He is the firstborn or firstfruit of being raised to life from death. It is because of this resurrection we have the opportunity of accepting Him as our Saviour and securing everlasting life in His company. Jesus is the King over all kings, leaders, presidents, queens, rulers, etc. There is no other King but King Jesus! The whole theme of Revelation is that Jesus is the ruler of the world.
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood; There is no greater expression of love than what Jesus did for us on Calvary. A love so great for his creation, he died on the Cross for us. He died in our place and endured the pain of crucifixion that we should have endured because of our sin nature, but no He didn’t want to see us have to go through that type of pain. Through this death His life giving blood flows through the veins of every Born Again Believer, because the life is in the blood. Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.
6  and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father; It is through the finished work of the Cross that Jesus proclaims true believer, to be kings and priests. The word “kings,” as it applies to Born Again believers, refers to the exalted rank and dignity that we have in common with our Saviour. Having gained a victory over sin, death, and Hell, we will reign together with Jesus over all enemies in triumphant.
By placing our faith in Jesus we become a royal priesthood. 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. We are to engage in the Holy Service of God and offer to Him acceptable worship. We are to act in a Christ like manner in all we do or say.
To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen; Jesus deserves all the glory and dominion, fore He paid the price for us. He is the redeemer, the source of light, the living water, the I AM!

1-16-2013 Vol. 6 Part 54 Book of Romans (Romans 16:17-27)

Psalms 88:1-18 A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. O LORD, God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You. Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry. For my soul is full of troubles, And my life draws near to the grave. I am counted with those who go down to the pit; I am like a man who has no strength, Adrift among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You remember no more, And who are cut off from Your hand. You have laid me in the lowest pit, In darkness, in the depths. Your wrath lies heavy upon me, And You have afflicted me with all Your waves.  You have put away my acquaintances far from me; You have made me an abomination to them; I am shut up, and I cannot get out; My eye wastes away because of affliction. LORD, I have called daily upon You; I have stretched out my hands to You. Will You work wonders for the dead? Shall the dead arise and praise You?  Shall Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave? Or Your faithfulness in the place of destruction? Shall Your wonders be known in the dark? And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? But to You I have cried out, O LORD, And in the morning my prayer comes before You. LORD, why do You cast off my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me? I have been afflicted and ready to die from my youth; I suffer Your terrors; I am distraught. Your fierce wrath has gone over me; Your terrors have cut me off. They came around me all day long like water; They engulfed me altogether. Loved one and friend You have put far from me, And my acquaintances into darkness. Father God, we give you thanks and praise for all you do for us. I ask that you bless those that read these messages and guide them home. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!
Romans 16:17-27 NKJV
This is the final lesson of this great book. If there was a book of the Bible to carry in you hip pocket, Romans would be it. It has covered everything a Christian needs to know. Why we are the way we are with the inherited sin nature, what sin is, the fact that we can’t help but sin, what living by faith is all about, that our own self righteousness means nothing to God, after we have a Spiritual Birth how to live, what grace is, and the list goes on and on. If you have had a hard time absorbing what is contained in this book, I ask you to read it over and over and over and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the treasure of salvation that is within it. It is all about being Born Again, which is the only way to Heaven.
17  Now I urge you, brethren, mark those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.
Now I urge you, brethren; The KJV states this verse as, “Now I beseech you, Brethren,” Paul uses this phrase I beseech you quite often. The meaning of the phrase is, “I beg of you, please.” His heart goes out to those in Rome; he is greatly concerned. Paul has used this expression when addressing other churches about matters also. The next phrase tells us what his concerns are.
Mark those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned; “Mark them” in the Greek is “skopeo,” and means “to look at, observe, contemplate, analyze, direct one’s attention to, scrutinize.”
“Division” in the Greek is “dichostasia,” and means “disunion, in the sense of being pulled away from the truth of the Gospel.”
“Offenses” in the Greek is “skandalon,” and means “an obstacle placed in the way and causing one to stumble or fall.”
“Doctrine” in the Greek is “didache,” and means “instruction, teaching, or preaching regarding the matter under discussion.”
This phrase is a strong statement and Paul is warning the Church of Rome about a wolf in sheep’s clothing. This was a great concern of Jesus, Paul, and the other Apostles. Matthew 7:15  "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. In fact it is a concern of any Born Again Saint that people are taught the truth about the Bible and that the facts and verses are not twisted and misinterpreted. Many modern day churches take the verses totally out of context. They take just a small phrase and make it fit a lifestyle they are living, or they don’t preach and teach directly from the Bible, but from a book they have written this way the student doesn’t know what the Bible actually teaches. Why do churches think they need to teach from a book other than God’s Holy Word? So they can twist the facts? Is it income for the denomination through book sales? Does man think they are smarter than God?  What drives these thoughts? It is summed up with two words, Satan and flesh. Due to the fall of mankind, men and women think they have all the answers. They rationalize, let’s use some psychology or science to solve our problems instead of turning to God, our Creator, our author of all things. Most people want to live by what man says and not by what God says. They think that living by man’s ways is easier and it gives their flesh pleasure. They think living for God is too hard. Little do they know, that how they are living by pleasing the flesh, is only a temporary thing while here on earth. When they pass from this earth, and if they haven’t given their heart to Jesus, there will be no more pleasure, but from that time on, wailing and gnashing of teeth in the pits of eternal Hell will be their reward for living a life of pleasing their flesh while on earth. Matthew 13:41-42 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness,  42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
And avoid them: This is a direct command from God via the Holy Spirit through Paul. Yet many, and I mean many, don’t heed this command from God. They continue with their life listening to their flesh and living their lifestyle. This happens to those that don’t know what the Word of God states and teaches. We have to know what the Word of God says so we can discern and know right from wrong, whether a minister is preaching the truth or good feeling messages, whether a church is right with God, or if God is spewing what they say out of his mouth, etc. WE ARE TO AVOID THEM!  Revelation 3:16 KJV So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
18  For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.
For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; This is speaking of the previous verse, wolves in sheep’s clothing. These people are only out to serve themselves in some way or fashion. Whether it be for money, pride of life, social status, etc. They aren’t serving God, but their own belly. The word belly is from the Greek work koilos, meaning a hollow, a cavity, that is specifically the abdomen encompassing the heart, belly, womb area, in other word their flesh. It is what’s in their heart that defiles them. Matthew 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 2 Peter 3:3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,
By smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. These people that are not called by God have mild, fair, and plausible speeches, with an appearances of great regard for the truth. They put on the appearance of great sincerity, sanctity, and humility. They use praise, love, kindness, and flattery to capture the attention of the simple, meaning those that don’t know the real truth, and get sucked into a religion that is of self and works. Colossians 2:4 Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. You will seldom if ever hear them preach the message of the Cross for salvation. There are wolves in all denominations. Now don’t get me wrong here, I’m not saying all ministers, pastors, priests, etc., I’m saying some in each of the denominations. When you encounter such and what they are preaching or failing to preach, then run, run as fast as you can go and don’t look back, because they are messing with your eternal life. Paul states this in Corinthians that a man of God only knows to preach the Cross of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
19  For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil.
For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; Word traveled through the Roman empire and Paul had come to know of the brethrens faithfulness of the Gospel. He compliments them on this fact here, as well as at the beginning of the letter. Romans 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
But I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil; The first part of this verse Paul compliments the believers, but then immediately warns them not to let their guard down. Satan is a master at deception and he will lead someone in the wrong direction without them knowing it. Therefore we must always be on guard.
20  And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
And the God of peace; The God who promotes peace. The only one that can give one peace when they place their faith in what Jesus did for them at the Cross.
Will crush; This refers to the prediction in Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel. “Will crush” means to subdue, to gain victory. It denotes Paul’s confidence that they would gain the victory, and would be able to overcome all the things of those who were sowing discord and contention among them.
Satan; The word “Satan” is Hebrew, meaning originally “an accuser, a calumniator,” and then “an enemy.” It is given to the prince of evil spirits this hate toward God and human beings. He is here regarded as the “author” of all attempts to promote discord in the church. Therefore, they who attempt to produce divisions are called “his ministers;” 2 Corinthians 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.
Under your feet shortly; Refers the Second Coming and the end of the Millennial reign when Jesus will rule. Satan is also crushed when one has a Spiritual Birth (Born Again) as long as they keep their faith in Jesus and what He did for them on the Cross.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen; This is Paul’s normal way of closing and praying for his fellow believers.
21  Timothy, my fellow worker, and Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my countrymen, greet you.
22  I, Tertius, who wrote this epistle, greet you in the Lord.
23  Gaius, my host and the host of the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the treasurer of the city, greets you, and Quartus, a brother.
Here Paul’s understudy Timothy, and some fellows Jews are sending greetings to those in Rome, along with Tertius who was the scribe for Paul’s’ dictation of this Book of Romans. Paul refers to Gaius as his host, so we can assume that Paul is staying at Gaius’s home. The whole church of Corinth sends their greeting. Erastus and Quartus also send their greetings. Erastus is mention in 2 Timothy 4:20 Erastus stayed in Corinth, but Trophimus I have left in Miletus sick. Acts 19:22 So he sent into Macedonia two of those who ministered to him, Timothy and Erastus, but he himself stayed in Asia for a time.
24  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
This is the third closing of this letter, but one more to come. The first closing was the last verse of Chapter 15. Several thoughts are that Paul thought of others to include in the greetings after he had closed previously. Maybe Paul’s scribe reminded him of others that wanted to be included in the greetings. Another possibility is that some of these people came along at different times and asked how the letter was going and when they found out it was finished, they may have said to send their greetings. We don’t know for sure, but I would venture to say something of this sort happened. Some say these last few verses Paul wrote himself.
25  Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began
26  but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith—
Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ; What this verse is saying is that this gospel of Paul’s, that he preached, explained what the finished work of Christ did for us, and if we put our faith in it, then we become worthy in God’s eyes of being Born Again and He will bless us with His Grace.
According to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now made manifest; This mystery has been kept secret since the beginning of time, but now is revealed by the Holy Spirit through Paul. Paul has recorded what salvation by faith is all about. He preached the message of the Cross, meaning salvation by faith by believing in what Jesus did for us in dying in our place on the Cross.
And by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith; This message of faith had been foretold by the prophets, but not understood. There was no one that had the key to unlock the mystery until Paul was given the insight by the Holy Spirit. Some of the patriarchs understood this like Abraham, Job, Jacob, etc. because they lived by faith and were righteous in God’s eyes. David was another that placed his faith in God even though he failed from time to time, but he always came back to God when he realized he had sinned, and he would repent and ask forgiveness. God’s grace has always been there for anyone that would place their faith in Him, Jew and Gentile alike.
27  to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.
The final closing of giving all the glory to God Almighty!

Last Week’s Trivia: Who was Adonizedek?
Answer: A king of the Canaanites who ruled Jerusalem at the time Joshua was invading the Promised Land. Adonizedek persuaded four other Canaanite chiefs to unite and try to repel Joshua. They were brilliantly outmaneuvered and defeated by Joshua and were subsequently put to death. Joshua 10:1-3

1-9-2013 Vol. 6 Part 53 Book of Romans (Romans 16:1-16)

Note: To download/print the document, click on the title below.

Psalms 87:1-7 A Psalm of the Sons of Korah. His foundation is in the holy mountains. The LORD loves the gates of Zion More than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God! "I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to those who know Me; Behold, O Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia: 'This one was born there.' " And of Zion it will be said, "This one and that one were born in her; And the Most High Himself shall establish her." The LORD will record, When He registers the peoples: "This one was born there." Both the singers and the players on instruments say, "All my springs are in you." Father God, we thank you for the Holy Spirit guiding Paul in the writing of this letter to the Romans. This letter is a Christian’s manual to live by and to come into a deeper relationship with you and who you are. I ask that your Word travels from our mind to our heart to enrich our faith in you. We give you all the glory and praise. Amen!
Romans 16:1-16 NKJV
This is the last chapter in Romans. I had hopes of covering this whole chapter in this lesson, but wasn’t able to do so. I will conclude next week and then we will get into the Book of Revelation which I’m really excited about, especially since worldly activity points toward many prophetic things. This last chapter is dealing with Paul sending his letter to Rome and greetings to a number of people he has come to know in his travels. With just reading chapter 16 one wouldn’t think there is much to expound on, but read on and you might be surprised.
1   I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea,
Paul is commending Phoebe, meaning that he is giving his stamp of approval and vouching for her as a servant of the Lord. She is a sister and a servant in the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was very active in the church at Cenchrea. Servant, in Greek is “diakonos”, our words deacon and deaconess are derived from this Greek word meaning a Christian teacher, pastor, or minister. It refers to both genders male and female. This shows scripturally that man and woman can serve in this gift. She is from the church located at Cenchrea which was about 9 miles from Corinth. It is very possible it was a branch of the church at Corinth. Paul wrote this letter to the Romans in Corinth and was sent to Rome by Phoebe. It is recorded by Renan that “Phoebe carried under the folds of her robe the whole future of Christian Theology.”
2   that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever business she has need of you; for indeed she has been a helper of many and of myself also.
That you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints; Paul is introducing Phoebe as a trustworthy woman that loved the Lord greatly. She was to be accepted in every spiritual function. How would you like to have a recommendation from the Paul of such magnitude?
And assist her in whatever business she has need of you; This phrase is telling us that Phoebe evidently had some type of business in Rome, which we do not know of. Being the trustworthy servant that she was and the fact that she needed to go to Rome, is probably why Paul enlisted her service to carry his letter to the Church in Rome. He knew he wouldn’t have to worry about it getting there.
For indeed she has been a helper of many and of myself also; With Paul being a minister of the Gospel we can conclude that Phoebe not only assisted Paul, but other servants of the Gospel too. How, we don’t really know, but probably with traveling necessities like food and lodging.
3  Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus,
Priscilla and Aquila were husband and wife. They were exiled from Rome in 52 A.D. because Claudius commanded all Jews to leave Rome. Aquila was a tent maker by trade as was Paul. When Paul was in Corinth he work beside Aquila making tents. Priscilla and Aquila are first mentioned in Acts 18:2 And he found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla (because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome); and he came to them. They are also mentioned in Acts 18:18, 26; I Corinthians 16:19; II Timothy 4:19. Paul stayed with this couple in Corinth and when he left it appears they left with him because of them being mentioned in other areas from the verses above. At some point in time they must have went back to Rome after the decree for the expulsion of the Jews was repealed and he was sending his greetings to them.
4  who risked their own necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.
Paul was indebted to this couple because whatever it was they did, they risked their own lives. We don’t know what the situation was, but we can rest assure that it was for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to be spread. It is possible that Priscilla and Aquila hid Paul and nursed him back to health after one of his persecutions. It could have been somehow related to the uprisings in Ephesus which was approximately 10 years before Paul was killed. What we can tell though is that it was a life threatening situation because Paul was thankful for himself, but also for the churches of the Gentiles. Why would the Gentile churches be thankful? If Paul had been killed, possibly at Ephesus there would have been churches not started by Paul and also Paul wouldn’t have been around to continually build up and edify those in the churches he had already started.
5  Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia to Christ.
Likewise greet the church that is in their house; We don’t know who Paul is referring to when he states greet the church that is in their house. There were no church buildings of that time period. The church gatherings were in the homes of the true believers. It is possible that the church moved from house to house due to the persecutions of the Christians.
Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia to Christ; Since Paul is stating the “first fruits of Achaia to Christ”, it tells us that he was the first to convert to Christianity.
6  Greet Mary, who labored much for us. We don’t know anything about this Mary, with the exception that she must have helped Paul and the church out in some fashion and he was sending his greetings. Maybe someday we will know.
7  Greet Andronicus and Junia, my countrymen and my fellow prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.
Andronicus and Junia, my countrymen and my fellow prisoners; Paul is sending his greetings to these two individuals and refers to them as countrymen (KJV states kinsman). From former lessons we know that he is referring to them as fellow Jewish brothers in Christ and not blood relatives. They too have endured some prison time due to the Gospel of Jesus, but we don’t know if they and Paul were in prison together someplace or just that they had shared the same experiences of being in prison.
Who are of note among the apostles; Some say these two people were apostles, but there is no real evidence of that. Based on how it is stated it would indicate that they were known by the other 12 Apostles and that they were of a notable reputation for the Gospel.
Who also were in Christ before me; This just simply stated that they received Jesus as their Saviour before Paul’s conversion.
8  Greet Amplias, my beloved in the Lord.
9  Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and Stachys, my beloved.
These individuals were known by Paul, but to what extent we do not know. Just like Mary above they were known by Paul, and being mentioned by him, got their name in the greatest book of all times.
10 Greet Apelles, approved in Christ. Greet those who are of the household of Aristobulus.
Greet Apelles, approved in Christ; Simply means that Apelles was a brother in Christ.
Greet those who are of the household of Aristobulus; This phrase is referring to slaves of the household of Aristobulus. At some point in time during Paul’s travels he had fellowship with them and they probably came to know Jesus from Paul’s teachings. In those days when slaves were purchased by another master, they continued to bear the name of their former proprietor.
11 Greet Herodion, my countryman. Greet those who are of the household of Narcissus who are in the Lord.
Here again Paul is sending greetings to a fellow Jew and to the slaves of the house of Narcissus.
12 Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, who have labored in the Lord. Greet the beloved Persis, who labored much in the Lord.
Paul sends greetings to these 3 women. What or how Paul knew them and what their capacity was for the Gospel we do not know, but with the mention of their name by Paul we know that they labored for the glory of God. It is very possible that they were deaconess. Persis must have been special to Paul and what she did for the Gospel since he stated beloved and labored much.
13 Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.
Rufus was a fellow believer and Paul was sending his greetings to him and his mother. The greeting Paul is giving, one would think Rufus and Paul were brothers and it was their mother. This love and tenderness is from ones heart. When a person has a Spiritual birth there is a binding love between believers. When 2 believers meet that have never met before, within minutes it is as if they had known each other all their life. The Holy Spirit binds the hearts of all true believer even though they are complete strangers to one another. This binding by the Holy Spirit embodies God’s family members with tender ties and special affections for each other. Jesus declared this bond in Matthew 12:47-49 Then one said to Him, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You."  48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?"  49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers!, and also in John 19:26-27 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold your son!"  27 Then He said to the disciple, "Behold your mother!" And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.
This bond is from the Spirit of God because when a person gives their heart to Jesus, the Holy Spirit takes up residence within that person. Our bodies become a temple for the Holy Spirit to reside in. 1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? As true believers we also become heirs of God and joint heirs, not co-heirs, but joint heirs with Jesus. Whatever God has given Jesus we share in that inheritance with Jesus. We are adopted into the family of God. We become His children. Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,  17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
14 Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren who are with them.
15 Greet Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints who are with them.
We don’t know anything about these individuals, but they must have been a great service to Paul at some time during his travels. They are important enough for Paul to mention them and with that they have gotten their names written in God’s Holy Word.
Paul ends verse 15 with “all the saints who are with them”. Do you know what Paul is referring to when he refers to saints? All Born Again believers are referred to as “Saints” in the Word of God. Acts 9:13 Then Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. Acts 9:32, 41; 26:10  Romans 1:7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 8:27; 12:13; 15:25–26, 31; 16:2, 15  1 Corinthians 1:2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: I Corinthians 6:1–2; 14:33; 16:1, 15; Ephesians 1:1, 15, 18; 2:19; Hebrews 6:10, etc. Our modern day saints are viewed as someone that has done great works in mans opinion. What constitutes a Saint in God’s eyes is someone that believes in what Jesus did at the Cross, and His resurrection. When one believes, instantaneously they become Saints in God’s eyes.
16 Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you.
Greet one another; Greet one another in an affectionate manner, that is, treat each other with kindness and love, and demonstrate all proper marks of affection.
With a holy kiss; This mode of greeting has been practiced at all times, and particularly in eastern nations. It was even practiced by men. The use of the word “holy” here serves to denote that Paul intended it as an expression of Christian affection and to guard against all improper familiarity and scandal. It was common for the early Christians to practice it in their assemblies. Jesus was betrayed with a kiss and now that you know a holy kiss is to portray Christian affection, why did Judas use a kiss. Was it to pretend or hide what was about to happen? Did he think by doing this his motives would be hidden? Jesus knew because he asked Judas a question that cut Judas to the bone. Here it is for you to think about. Luke 22:48 But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?" Say what is in red with emphasis like this; Judas!……are you……betraying……the Son of Man……with a KISS? I don’t know about you, but it sends goose bumps down my spine.
The churches of Christ greet you; That is, the churches in the vicinity of where Paul wrote this Epistle.
I will have to finish this up next week. I’ve run out of room.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,
for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes…...
Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Last Week’s Trivia: Who was Adoniram?
Answer: The superintendant of the levies of forced laborers during the reigns of David, Solomon, and Rehoboam. Adoniram was an important person in the ambitious building programs of his masters. The freedom loving populace resented being drafted as laborers, and hated Adoniram. He was finally stoned to death in Israel when the northern provinces revolted during Rehoboam’s reign. 1 Kings Chapters 4 and 5.
This week’s Trivia: Who was Adonizedek?
