Signs Of The Second Coming Of Jesus
7-20-2011 Vol. 5 Part 1
Psalm 37:32-40 NKJV  The wicked watches the righteous, And seeks to slay him. The LORD will not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him when he is judged. Wait on the LORD, And keep His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it. I have seen the wicked in great power, And spreading himself like a native green tree. Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more; Indeed I sought him, but he could not be found. Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright; For the future of that man is peace. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together; The future of the wicked shall be cut off. But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him. Father we praise your name we give you all the glory. I ask that you reveal to me the messages that you want to convey to all that read these lessons. Let you will be done in me as a scribe and also in those that read these. Keep us all healthy, safe, and worthy servants. You are awesome! Thank you Jesus! Amen!
THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST
What is the second coming of Jesus? When will he come? Where is he coming from? Who is coming with him? Why is he coming? These are all good questions and if you haven’t read the Bible, this maybe all new and foreign to you. I feel this is what Jesus wants me to convey at this time. You can strike up a conversation with just about anyone these days about current times and everyone is starting to question what is going on with current times and world events. The weather/seasons have us all wondering what is around the next seasonal corner. Just within the last 12 months we have had major earthquakes, tornadoes, and floods (I consider a tsunami a great flood. Floods destroy by engulfing things in water.). The question I have now with the current season is what type of hurricanes are we in for. Are they going to be of great devastation? Bible prophecy stated these things will be more frequent and more devastating as the time nears when Jesus will return.
Back in 1843 there was a man named William Miller in New England and he announced the second coming of Christ. He studied and calculated and came up with the date March 21, 1843 Jesus was returning. He announced this to his followers so they all prepared white robes and when the day arrived they all went out at midnight and wait. The day came and went and the only event that happened was the jeering of people at their foolishness. All were very disappointed and William Miller sat down and looked over his calculations, discovering he had made a mistake. He then told his followers of his calculation error that he was one year off, and reassured them he had it right now. The next year came and went and again Jesus did not come. This happened one more year and when Jesus didn’t come the third time, all of Mr. Miller’s followers left him.
Does this sound like anything that has happened a couple months ago? Harold Camping predicted May 21, 2011 as judgment day, but as we all know this was false. He has changed his date to October 21, 2011. So I wonder what he will have to say when that date comes and goes. There is no human being that can predict judgment day. Jesus told his disciples that only God knows the hour. Mark 13:32 NKJV  "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Jesus didn’t even know. That seems strange since Jesus and God are one, but you have to remember that when Jesus made that statement, he was in human form, and we know Jesus doesn’t lie, so you have to believe that he didn’t know. Does he know now? Yes he does. The angels don’t know and they are around and minister to God all the time. Here is a list of other verses that state that only God knows the day and hour. Matthew 24:44 NLT You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected. Matthew 24:36, 42, 50; 25:13. So when someone predicts judgment day, you can be assured it is false.
What would happen if we knew when that day was? How would you live your life? What if judgment day was next Monday. How would you live your life till then? Would you start living a righteous life right now in hopes of going to Heaven? Why would that make a difference anyway if you aren’t living for God right now? After all tomorrow you could be in an automobile accident and die. If you died right now, this very second, do you have the assurance of what the Bible states of going to Heaven. If you can’t say for sure you are going to Heaven based on Bible scripture and what Jesus tells us, then please examine your life style and start living for Jesus, because tomorrow may be too late. We have to be like the train watchman and have the bridge lowered when the train comes, or it will end up in the river. We have to be ready at all times.
I have a book that someone has gone through the Bible and calculated out how many years it has been since creation. I do believe the earth is some 6,000 years old not billions of years old, so I base this reasoning on God’s words of creation. Scripture states this; 2 Peter 3:8 NLT But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. When I read this verse a couple years ago, a light bulb went off in my head which related to God creating all things in 6 days and day 7 is a day of rest. My thought process is this. If we are someplace in the 6,000 year range of time (meaning day 6), and when year 7,000 arrives (meaning day 7), will this be the start of the millennial reign? The millennial reign is a time of peace when Jesus and his saints rule the earth. We are in the 6,000 year timeline, but where? That is the question and only God knows.
In Matthew Chapters 24 and 25 Jesus tells us all about the end time events, how Israel fits into the scheme of things, and just about any other end time prophetic event. These two chapters are referred to as the Olivet Discourse. These two chapters reveal the sequence of events, and how other Bible verses and the tribulation are all intertwined.
You ask if we are not to know the hour or day and are always to be ready, then why does Jesus tell us about the signs leading up to the end of time. It is just a gentle reminder for us so that we as human beings will keep our focus on him and always be ready. We can get so wrapped up in our daily lives we tend to lose track of time. When we hear of natural disasters we should also think about events that are prophesied to happen toward the end of time. True it is very sad and our hearts go out to those that have lost loved ones during these events, but it should also bring our focus back to God’s Word. This is what this parable is stating. Matthew 24:32-35 NLT "Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. 33  In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know His return is very near, right at the door. 34 I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will disappear, but My words will never disappear. It is no different than when the stores put out Christmas decorations months in advance. It is a sign of the upcoming Christmas season.
So be ready and if you aren’t ready get ready. There are a lot of people thinking and believing that we are seeing the end time events unfolding.
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God!
Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth,
Unless you are Born Again, you cannot enter into Heaven, the Kingdom of God."

Last Week’s Trivia: Can an ax head float in water?
Answer: 2 Kings 6:6 NKJV So the man of God said, "Where did it fall?" And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float.
This week’s Trivia: Who in the Old Testament raised someone from the dead?
